Trip Overview

Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek is a bit more challenging trekking in the Manaslu region which is also known as the hidden treasure of Nepal. While trekking on this route, we get a mesmerizing view of the mountain with beautiful landscapes. We have an opportunity to trek on the lap of the eighth highest mountain which is Mt Manaslu. Not only Manaslu, but also get a chance to see mesmerizing views of Himalchuli, Ganesh Himal, Churke Himal, and the Poshyop Glacier. It is a remote trek area of Nepal which is an amazing trekking route that is one of the Buddhist Pilgrimage sites.

Trekking on this route is an isolated outdoor trekking adventure in the remote and rugged area of central Nepal which is an off-the-beaten trekking trail. Of the 15 restricted areas of Nepal, the Manaslu Tsum Valley trek is one of them. While trekking on this route, we need a special trekking permit before embarking. We get a chance to know about the culture and traditions of the people who are local inhabitants of this route. We will pass through the dense forest of rhododendron, snow-capped mountain, and beautiful landscapes. Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek Permit

Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek is the hidden gem of the Manaslu region. Of the 15 restricted areas of Nepal, the Tsum Valley trek is one of them. While trekking on this route, we need at least three trekking permits which are a special trekking permit, Annapurna, and Manaslu Conservation Area Permit. We need a special trekking permit before embarking on this trek. Without a special trekking permit, you are not allowed to trek on this route. The Manaslu conservation area permit is for the protection of flora and fauna which are found here.

It offers a fantastic experience of witnessing the ancient village, tradition, and culture of these wonderful people. As we all know that trekking permit is necessary for trekking all over Nepal and a trekking permit is easily available at Kathmandu Valley in the Tourism Board of Nepal. For a trekking permit, we have to fill out the form. To fill out the form, you have to give passport-sides two photos and a photocopy of your passport.         

Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek Route

This beautiful Tsum Valley trek begins after taking a scenic drive from Kathmandu valley toward Soti Khola. Along the bank of the Trishuli River, the bus will follow the Prithivi Highway. On the way toward this beautiful trek, we get a chance to explore a small town in Nepal. A small town likes Aarughat, Soti Khola, Machha Khola, Jagat, Lokpa, Chumling, chhokangparo, and many other beautiful villages on this route. On the way, we will get a mesmerizing view of the mountain which includes Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Shringi Himal, Boudha Himal, and many other Himal on this route.

There are some things to do while trekking on this wonderful land. While trekking on this route, we get a deeper insight into the less explored Tsum Valley Trek. We will cross through the ascending rivers, waterfalls, many suspension bridges, Chortens, monasteries, and Gompas. On this trek, we get a chance to know about the culture, tradition, and lifestyle of the rural Himalayan people.          

Transportation for Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek

In the context of Nepal, there are two modes of transportation. While trekking on this beautiful route, we will take the roadway to start our trekking. Early in the morning after having breakfast, we will take a tourist bus to move towards Soti Khola and the bus will follow the Prithivi Highway, west of Kathmandu Valley. The bus will go to Jagat, but we will walk from Soti Khola or we will start our walking from Soti Khola. There will be a local jeep for the mode of transportation but walking on this route makes our journey more interesting and more memorable.

If you do not want to take a tourist bus then the company will provide a private jeep for you. But you have to pay extra cost for a private jeep. And in the ending point of this beautiful Tsum Valley Trek, we will take a bus from Arughat to move towards Kathmandu Valley to end our journey.

Is a solo trek possible for Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek?

No, a solo trek is not possible for Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek. It is because a solo trek is totally forbidden by the Government of Nepal. Tsum Valley Trek is one of the restricted trekking routes in Nepal so we need a special trekking permit. If you are planning to trek solo in this wonderful land then change your mind it is because at least two people are needed for trekking on this route. You must take a guide while embarking on this route. If you have two people group for trekking but you don’t want a guide with you then you are not allowed to trek here.

Details Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu TIA and transfer to hotel

    A delegate will be meet you at the arrival gate of Tribhuwan international airport then you will transfer to the hotel which you have chosen for relax and freshen up, In the evening we will have our welcome dinner with you and your trekking guide.

  • Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation for the Trek

    The second day of our trekking we will be taken for a full day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley after having breakfast. In this day we will visit center of pilgrimage Pashupatinath temple and Swaymbunath which are enlisted in UNESCO world heritage sites. After sightseeing we come back to hotel.

  • Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Sotikhola [710m/2328 ft] 8 – 9 hours

    Early in the morning, we will check out from the hotel at Thamel and drive toward Soti Khola. The trail goes along the scenic Trisuli Rivers to reach Soti Khola. It takes almost 7 to 8 hours to reach Soti Khola from Kathmandu valley. On the way, we get a chance to enter a small town in Nepal. The trail goes along the green, rocky mountain, river, and small spring.

  • Day 03: Soti Khola to Machha Khola

    Today is the first day of a walking trek of the Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek where we will walk toward Machha Khola from Soti Khola. The path has sharp ascents and descents and the path itself is stunning. On the way, we have to cross waterfalls. It takes almost 6 to 7 hours to reach Machha Khola and going to spend a luxurious night.

  • Day 04: Machha Khole to Jagat

    First of all, today, we will cross Machha Khola over the suspension bridge. We will gradually towards the small valley of Khorla Besi. On the way, we have an opportunity to see a dense forest of rhododendron and we also get a chance to know about the lifestyle of rural remote Nepal.

  • Day 05: Jagat to Lokpa

    The trail will cross the Budhi Gandaki River after a long suspension bridge. Today, we will walk through rocky terrain and a suspension bridge. The trail moves gently uphill and then follows a flat leveled path. It takes almost 6 to 7 hours to reach Lokpa from Jagat and going to spend overnight.

  • Day 07: Chumling to Chhokangparo

    We will cross a suspension bridge onto the opposite bank of the river. The trail passes through the dense forest full of rhododendron, juniper, and pine. It takes almost 4 to 5 hours to reach Chhokangparo from Chumling and going to spend overnight in this wonderful land.

  • Day 08: Chhkangparo to the Nile

    We will pass through several villages and you will be able to see the resident’s farming. While trekking on this route, we get a chance to explore Milarepa Cave the cave is on the side of the mountain, with great views of the valley from the Cave monastery. It takes almost 7 hours to reach the Nile from Chhkangparo and going to spend overnight.

  • Day 09: Nile to Mu Gompa

    On a trail that gradually ascends to Mu Gompa which is the largest monastery in this region. Today, we will reach Dephyudonma Gumba before entering Mu Gompa. We will pass through several yak pastures and Trans Himalayan terrain.

  • Day 10: Mu Gompa to Ranche Gompa

    Today, this day will take you from one monastery to another under the same Lama. We also get a chance to explore the oldest and largest monastery in the region which is the highest and most remote part of the Tsum valley trek.

  • Day 11: Ranche Gompa to Gumba Lungdang

    From Ranche Gompa, we will walk toward Gumba Lungdang. The trail will descend on a path that eventually leads to a wooden bridge and we will also pass through small villages. We will pass through a dense forest of pine, juniper, and rhododendron forest. It takes almost 5 to 6 hours to reach Gumba Lungdang from Ranche Gompa and going to spend overnight here.

  • Day 12: Gumba Lungdang to Ganesh Himal Base Camp and back to Gumba Lungdang

    Today, on this day trekking, first of all, we will trek towards Ganesh Himal Base Camp. We start our trekking early in the morning. We will have a mesmerizing view of the mountain from Ganesh Himal Base Camp. After roaming around Ganesh Himal Base Camp, we will back toward Gumba Lungdang. It takes almost 7 to 8 hours to reach Gumba Lungdang and going to spend overnight here.

  • Day 13: Gumba Lungdang to Lokpa

    From Gumba Lungdang, we will walk toward Lokpa. The trail will head south, passing a beautiful dense forest, and crossing a suspension bridge. We will drop back through the gorge that enters Tsum valley along the Syar River before reaching Lokpa and going to spend overnight here.

  • Day 14: Jagat – Deng [1,804m/5917 ft]: 6 – 7 hrs

    The trail passes through various points at riverbanks observing beautiful landscapes of nature and the trail leads you to the Budhi Gandaki River. It takes 7 to 8 hours to reach Deng from Jagat. There are various suspension bridges and dense forests along the trail before reaching Deng and going to spend overnight.

  • Day 15: Deng – Namrung [2630m/8626ft]: 6 – 7 hrs

    On a trail that takes you uphill and downhill where we cross suspension bridges over the Budhi Gandaki River. We also get a chance to enter a beautiful village, beautiful landscapes, snow-capped mountains, and many more. It takes almost 4 to 5 hours to reach Namrung from Deng and going to spend overnight in this beautiful village.

  • Day 16: Namrung – Lho 2,957 m / 9,701 ft – 4 hrs

    Today, we will continue our journey after having breakfast. On the way, we will have mesmerizing views of the mountain and beautiful landscapes. Crossing a stream that originates from Lindanda Glacier to reach Sho and also get a chance to see mesmerizing views of Simnang Himal. The trail passes through the hillside to the ridge.

  • Day 17: Lho to Samagaun [3530m/11,578 ft]: 5 hours

    The trail today takes you from Lho to Samagaun which takes you through a forested path and then some barley fields. On the way, we get a chance to see mesmerizing views of the mountain like Ganesh Himal and Himal Chuli. Along the trail, we get a chance to enter a beautiful valley and cross over the Hinang Khola. Today, we also get a chance to see a large monastery which is Ribung Monastery.

  • Day 18: Rest in Samagaun & Acclimatization day

    Today, we will take a rest in Samagaun. Taking a day rest means not resting for the whole day and on this day trekking, we get a chance to explore all around Samagaun. From Samagaun, we get a mesmerizing view of the mountain like Mt Manaslu. Not only that but also getting a chance to see breathtaking views of Pungyen Glacier and Nadi River will enchant all travelers.

  • Day 19: Samagaun to Samdo [3860M/12,660 FT]: 4 – 5 HOURS

    We will pass through various landscapes to arrive at Samado from Samagaun. The trek begins on the descending path to the Budhi Gandaki River. We also get a chance to pass through the Juniper tree and also cross a wooden bridge. Today, we also get a chance to know about the culture and traditions of Buddhist People. It takes 3 to 4 hours to reach Samdo from Samagaun and going to spend overnight.

  • Day 20: Samdo to Dharamsala [4460M/14, 628 FT]: 4 – 5 HOURS

    Along the trail, we will cross a wooden bridge over the Budhi Gandaki River. We will hike up toward Dharamsala and on the way; we get a chance to get an impressive glimpse of the Larkya glacier. We also get a chance to see the magical views of snow-capped mountains from this route.

  • Day 21: Dharamsala to Bhimtang [5160M] – BIMTHANG [3720M]: 8 – 9 HOURS

    Today, we will cross Larkya La pass before entering Bhimtang. On this day, we will pass through various landscapes, snow-capped mountains, and many more and the trail passes through a rural village, glaciers, and endangered animals. It takes 7 to 8 hours to reach Bhimtang from Dharamsala where we are going to spend overnight.

  • Day 22: Bhimtang to Gho [2515M]: 5 – 6 HOURS

    The trail then leads you through the dense forest and across a stony glacier before finally ascending from a moraine. Today, the trail descends to the pasture and continues towards a bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. It takes 4 to 5 hours to reach Gho from Bhimtang and going to spend overnight.

  • Day 23: Gho to Dharapani [1940M] 5 HOURS

    We will pass through various landscapes of the region before entering Dharapani. Crossing a stony glacier we will finally be ascending from a moraine which leads us through the dense forest of the region. We will pass through fields and climb uphill to arrive at Gho and going to spend the overnight.

  • Day 24: Drive to Besisahar via Kathmandu 8-9 hours

    Today, this day trek will be the last day at the Manaslu Circuit trek. From Dharapani, we will walk towards Besisahar. The trail descends through a stone-paved path along with a village to Thonje village. We will take a local jeep toward Besisahar from Dharapani and going to spend overnight.   We will take the same route towards Kathmandu Valley. After 8 to 9 hour drive from Besisahar, we will reach Kathmandu which is surrounded by a valley. In the evening time, you can walk around Thamel Bazaar which will become more beautiful at night time.
