Annapurna Tilicho Lake Trek is a stunning adventure that leads you all the way and the trail passes through some of the most beautiful attractions. It is quite hard because of the frequent stones falling from the mountains. Trekking on this route is quite difficult trekking trail where the route includes steep ascending and descending as well as rough trails. This trekking destination is located at a high altitude and because of the high altitude; many of the trekkers will suffer from altitude sickness. The trail above the Shree Kharka can be the challenging part of the journey but the trekking experience is always great for this trek. If you are planning to trek in this beautiful trek then plan your trek in the autumn and spring season. It is because in winter and summer seasons there will be fog and rain everywhere and the trail becomes a little bit slippery and muddy.

How are the weather and climate at Annapurna Circuit Tilicho Lake Route?

The weather and climate along the Annapurna Circuit and Tilicho Lake Route can vary significantly due to the diverse landscapes and altitudes you’ll encounter during the trek. It’s important to be prepared for a wide range of weather conditions, as the region experiences distinct seasons:

  1. Pre-Monsoon (Spring): March to May
    • Spring is one of the best times to trek the Annapurna Circuit and visit Tilicho Lake. The weather is relatively stable and mild.
    • Temperatures start to warm up, especially at lower altitudes, and the rhododendron forests are in full bloom, adding vibrant colors to the landscape.
    • Daytime temperatures at lower altitudes (around 1,000 to 3,000 meters) can range from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F), while nighttime temperatures can drop to 0°C to 5°C (32°F to 41°F).
    • As you gain altitude, temperatures decrease, and you’ll need to be prepared for colder conditions.
  2. Monsoon (Summer): June to August
    • The monsoon season brings heavy rainfall, making trekking in the region more challenging. Trails can become slippery, and landslides are possible.
    • This is generally not the recommended time for trekking due to the wet conditions and limited visibility of the stunning mountain views.
    • It’s important to be cautious and check weather forecasts and trail conditions before embarking on the trek during this season.
  3. Post-Monsoon (Autumn): September to November
    • Autumn is another popular time for trekking the Annapurna Circuit and visiting Tilicho Lake. The weather is clear, and the skies are generally free from clouds.
    • Daytime temperatures at lower altitudes are comfortable, ranging from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F), while nighttime temperatures can drop significantly, especially at higher altitudes.

  4. Winter: December to February
    • Winter brings colder temperatures and the possibility of snowfall, especially at higher altitudes.
    • Trekking during winter requires proper cold-weather gear, and some sections of the trail may be more challenging due to snow and ice.
    • Lower altitudes might have daytime temperatures ranging from 5°C to 15°C (41°F to 59°F), while higher altitudes can experience freezing temperatures.

  • Day 01: Arrival in Katmandu TIA and transfer to hotel

    Landing at the international airport of Nepal, you will see our staff pick you up from the airport. From the airport, you will drop by the hotel in Thamel where you will spend the overnight here.

  • Day 02: Kathmandu to Syangeby Private Car or Van and Local Jeep share (1100m), 7 hrs drive

    After having breakfast in the Kathmandu valley we slowly start our journey towards Syange. In this route we get enjoy the country side of Nepal with its green hills, winding rivers, terraced farm and of course the Himalayan and spend overnight in the Syange.

  • Day 03: Trek to Dharapani (1860m), 6 hrs

    After spending one night in Syange we slowly start our journey towards Dharapani after having breakfast in the morning. We enter Manang district after crossing a large bridge Tal and we also pass through the village of Kodo berfor reaching Dharapani which is the largest valley of the Manang disitrict and spend overnight in the Dharapani.

  • Day 04: Trek to Chame (22670m),5 hrs

    The trail crosses several small streams and wooden bridges to reach Chame and along the path, we get an opportunity to see mesmerizing views of the mountain like Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. It is 7 miles long and mostly upward from Bagarchhap to Chame. It takes almost 6 hours to reach Chame and get a chance to enjoy the natural scenery.

  • Day 05: Trek to Upper Pisang (2670m), 5 hrs

    A few more miles of walk through the dense forest is an easy walk alongside the Marsyangdi River. With a leisurely walk through the narrow and steep valley that displays a gigantic rock wall and the trail then passes lunar landscapes before arriving at lower Pisang.

    After Spending overnight in upper pisang, we will take breakfast and couple hour step gyaru village which most beautiful Annapurna IIII, Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Manaslu, Chulu Far East and Pisang peak and many others trekking peak himalayan white scenery. and Continue to Nawal stay overnight

  • Day 07: Nawal to Manang (3500m.) 4 hours

    After spending over night in Nawal, we will slowly starts our trekking towards Manang after having breakfast early in the morning. We begin to notice contrast in the landscape and vegetation from today and our short visit to Barge monasteries which is the largest monasteries of the Manang district which will memorable for life time and spend overnight in Manang.

  • Day 08: Rest Day for Acclimatization and normal hiking

    At Manang, there are several options available for short hikes today and in high altitudes, trekker success depends upon exquisite planning and expert trekking advice. From here, you will get mesmerizing views of the mountain like Mt Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Fishtail, and many other mountains in this region.

  • Day 09: Manang to Khangsar (3550m.) 4 hours

    The trail is quite easy where we will get a chance to cross the pine forest to Khangsar. The path runs off Manang through the western gate before following the course down the river. It takes almost 4 hours to reach Khangsar from Manang and spend overnight.

  • Day 10: Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp (4400m.) 6/7 Hours

    The trek will be continuing through the narrow and steep way. It ascends the high mountain ridge arriving at a junction of the new and old trails. Today the trail is a little bit risky because the stone might fall from the hill as the landscape is very steep.

  • Day 11: Visit Tilicho Lake then back to Siri Kharka (4900m.) 7/8 hour

    Early in the morning, we will hike up and visit Tilicho Lake. From here, we will have a mesmerizing view of the mountain Manaslu, Himlung, and many other peaks on this route. After visiting Tilicho Lake, we will back to Tilicho Base Camp Trek and have our breakfast, and trek towards Shree Kharka. It takes 6 to 7 hours to reach Shree Kharka.

  • Day 12: Siri kharka to Ledar (4200.) 6/7 hours

    The trail rises up to a plateau that provides mesmerizing views of mountains like Annapurna and Gangapurna. Today, we will get a chance to pass through the monastery of a Tare Gumba.

  • Day 13: Ledar to Thorang Phedi (4400m) 5 hour

    The trek continues with an ascent up the mountain ridge and a gentle descent to the Marsyangdi River and cross the wooden bridge. The trail rises upward and slowly follows a narrow side road across a slope. We will see colorful valleys from the Clifton and the path is steep and a bit rough here.

  • Day 14: Thorong Phedi to Thorong La pass (5416m.) trek to Muktinath (3800m.) 8/9 hour

    This day trekking is one of the most challenging and toughest day trekking of the Annapurna Tilicho Lake Trek. It is just because on this day, we will also cross Thorong la Pass, crossing the Thorong la passes than after we will walk toward Muktinath. The rugged trail heads to Muktinath valley and we have to cross many suspension bridges before reaching Muktinath.

  • Day 15: Muktinath to Tatopani (1100m.)by Jeep 6 Hour

    From Muktinath, we will drive toward Tadapani. Today, we will visit beautiful villages like Jomsom, Syang, Marpha, Ghasa, and Dana, and finally reach Tatopani. In Tatopani, we get a chance to take a bath in a natural hot spring.

  • Day 16: Trek to Ghorepani (2860m), 7 hrs

    The trek to Ghorepani comes with an astounding view. It takes almost 6 to 7 hours to reach Ghorepani from Tatopani. The trail passes over the terraced farmland and into the dense forest of rhododendron, pine, and birch.

  • Day 17: Poon Hill Sunrise (3210m), 6 hour and drive to pokhara 1 hours

    From Ghorepani, we will hike up to Poon hill where we will get a chance to see the mesmerizing view of the sunrise. After mesmerizing views of the sunrise, we will back towards Ghorepani and have our breakfast. From Ghorepani, we will trek towards Birethanti and have our lunch and from Birethanti, we will walk toward Naya Pul. And from Naya Pul, we will drive toward Pokhara and spend overnight.

  • Day 18: drive back to Kathmandu valley 7 hours

    Early in the morning, we will take a tourist bus towards Kathmandu valley after having breakfast. We will take the same route towards Kathmandu valley. After 6 hour drive from Pokhara, we will reach Kathmandu which is surrounded by a valley. In the evening time, you can walk around Thamel Bazaar which will become more beautiful at night time.

    Today is the last day in Nepal. The guide will be in the hotel where you spend the overnight and the guide will take you to the international airport to see you off and hope you will give an opportunity to serve you again.
