Your Safety Is Our Priority

Trekking in the Himalayas is an incredible experience — but altitude, weather, and remote terrain demand serious preparation. Here's how we keep you safe on every trip.

Understanding Altitude

Above 2,500 m (8,200 ft), the reduced oxygen levels can affect anyone regardless of fitness. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is the most common concern, but it's preventable with proper acclimatization.

Our itineraries follow the “climb high, sleep low” principle — we build in acclimatization days at key altitudes and never ascend more than 500 m per sleeping elevation in a single day above 3,000 m.

Safety Support on Every Trek

First-Aid Trained Guides

All lead guides hold Wilderness First Aid certification and carry comprehensive first-aid kits.

Satellite Communication

We carry satellite phones on every trek above 3,000 m for emergency contact when cell coverage drops.

Pulse Oximeters

Daily SpO2 and heart rate checks help us catch altitude issues before symptoms become serious.

Supplemental Oxygen

Emergency oxygen cylinders are carried on all high-altitude treks above 4,000 m.

Helicopter Evacuation

Partnerships with rescue helicopter operators enable rapid evacuation to Kathmandu hospitals.

Weather Monitoring

Guides check forecasts daily and adjust plans proactively — we never push through dangerous conditions.

Emergency Response Flow

1

Symptom Recognition

Guides monitor for early signs of altitude sickness — headache, nausea, dizziness, or breathlessness.

2

Immediate Assessment

Pulse oximeter readings and Lake Louise scoring to determine severity. Supplemental oxygen administered if needed.

3

Controlled Descent

If symptoms persist, we descend to a lower altitude immediately — the single most effective treatment.

4

Helicopter Evacuation

For serious cases, our satellite phone links directly to rescue helicopters. Evacuation to Kathmandu hospitals within hours.

Travel Insurance Requirement

We require all trekkers to carry travel insurance that covers helicopter evacuation up to at least $100,000 and trekking at the altitude of your chosen route. We can recommend trusted providers if you need help finding a policy.
